Bearded Brutes is a collection of vivid photographic portraits bursting with colour, sparkle and, perhaps unsurprisingly, beards. Combining the masculinity of the bearded male with the camp flamboyance of heavy make-up and theatrical poses, Mark Leeming’s labour of love – in which he is not only photographer but make-up artist, art director and stylist – offers an enjoyable, offbeat insight into juxtapositions of modern masculinity.
