Workshop: Shared Space – A Learning Lab

Every time the refugee crisis hits the headline, there’s a renewed motivation amongst artists and arts organisations to develop creative interventions. This has resulted in the emergence of new projects, approaches and artworks. Refugee background artists and communities are sometimes excluded from decision making in these projects. They describe having limited choices and finding themselves in the passenger seat of someone else’s project, instead of being in the driving seat. A response to this has been a debate about co-creation.

Shared Space is a day-long, exploration of co-creation in arts practice with artists, young people and community groups from refugee backgrounds. Key regional practitioners will share their practice through creative workshops, debate and presentations exploring issues of power and representation.
