William Roache

An audience with...

William Roache, known to millions as Coronation Street’s Ken Barlow, had not long come out of the army and was working as a repertory actor in the country’s regional theatres when, in 1960, a 13-week contract changed his life for ever. The only character to have been in Corrie since day one, William Roache has survived more than one director’s desire to kill him off!
In the first half of this one-man show, William will discuss his life on the street, explaining how it the ever-popular programme is rehearsed and filmed, and talking about what goes on behind the scenes. In the second half, William, who was awarded an MBE for services to acting in 2000, will be taking questions from the audience.
