Dir Gauri Shinde / India 2012/ 134 mins / In Hindi with English subtitles
Money, fame and knowledge of English. In India, these three factors play a huge role in how society judges an individual. English Vinglish focuses on Shashi, a young woman who doesn’t understand English and is made to feel insecure by her family and society at large. Circumstances make her determined to overcome this insecurity, master the language and teach the world a lesson on the way to becoming a self-assured and confident woman.
