The Booker Prize 2023 winner, at HOME in partnership with MUBI
Join us at HOME for the first public event with Paul Lynch, the winner of the Booker Prize 2023, held in partnership with global film distributor and streaming service MUBI.
Following the winner announcement last night, the newly crowned author, Irish novelist Paul Lynch, will be in conversation with Manchester-based writer, Okechukwu Nzelu here at HOME at 5.45pm on Tuesday 28 November to talk about his winning book Prophet Song. Following the Q&A there will be a screening of, In My Room, the film that has been chosen to complement it by MUBI. The event is scheduled to finish at 8.15pm. There will be signed books available to buy from Blackwell’s after the event.
What happens to our humanity when the world falls apart? Prophet Song and In My Room approach this question from different angles – in Paul Lynch’s novel, a scientist clings to her family as Ireland slides into totalitarianism. In Ulrich Köhler’s film, a cameraman discovers he’s the only survivor of the apocalypse, but still can’t shake his bad habits.
