This discussion will explore the lasting impact of Dr. Strangelove as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of this Kubrick classic. Peter Krämer will examine the critical reception and audience reaction to the film while considering what it means to fans today. Particular areas of focus include: the film’s inception, Kubrick’s use of comedy, and contemporary understanding of the film in relation to WWII and the Nazis.
Peter Krämer, Senior Lecturer in Film Studies at the University of East Anglia and author of the BFI Film Classics study of Dr. Strangelove, will be in conversation with Andy Willis, Reader in Film Studies at the University of Salford.
