Roundtable: developing your first feature with Michelle Stein and Moin Hussain

Join producer Michelle Stein and writer director Moin Hussain for a roundtable before the preview screening of Sky Peals.

Moin and Michelle have been working together since 2017, producing two shorts and now Moin’s first feature film Sky Peals.

In this round table they will take a deep dive into the process of developing a first feature film from development all the way to distribution.

Most relevant to: writer, directors and producers who have a few funded short films under their belt and are now thinking of, or working on, their first feature.

About the speakers

Michelle Stein (The Fold): Michelle Stein is a BAFTA, RTS nominated and BIFA winning producer.  Over the last 16 years, Michelle has worked on a plethora of projects from producing a micro-budget first feature that secured international theatrical distribution to developing a big-budget animation franchise with Aardman, based on original IP sourced and developed by her.  Michelle has a keen eye for international-level talent and has produced content that has screened in competition at A-list festivals such as Cannes, SXSW, LFF, Tribeca and Venice and been bought by the BBC and Sky. Michelle’s previous company, Escape Films, was a recipient of the BFI Vision Award.

Moin Hussain: After being selected by the Directors Guild of Great Britain to take part in a scheme for new talent, Moin directed several music videos and promos. His first short Holy Thursday was by funded by Creative England and screened internationally. His second short Real Gods Require Blood set in 1990 Manchester, premiered at Semaine de la Critique 2017, was nominated for Best Short Film at the BFI London Film Festival 2017 and screened at Sitges, Frightfest, and Edinburgh. His third short, Naptha, funded by Film4 and Film London premiered at the 2018 BFI London Film Festival. Sky Peals is his first feature.
