Reel Good Film Club join us at Season 3 of Pilot Light to curate a very special event. A London based outfit, RGFC are devoted to celebrating people of colour in all aspects of Cinema and TV. Their aim is to produce screenings and discussions that do not conform to the rigid and elitist canon of Film and TV, instead seeking to facilitate affordable and inclusive spaces for people to enjoy, discover and create.
RGFC presents the premiere of Cakes & Candles; a Web Series centred around a year in the life of three queer friends as they each celebrate their birthdays. The series explores important themes such as sexuality, gender and race, but also touches on subjects such as sisterhood, family and youth culture in London.
Following a screening of the first 11-minute episode of Cake & Candles (12A), RGFC lead a discussion about the future of Queer Web Series, a live script read of the second episode of Cakes & Candles with its cast, and an associated zine workshop.
