Playreading: The House of Bernarda Alba by Federico Garcia Lorca

Following the death of her first husband, powerful matriarch Bernarda Alba announces that the household will enter a period of eight years mourning. For her five daughters, the strict confines of the house lead to mounting tension, jealously and sexual repression. As Bernarda’s oppression of her daughters increases it becomes apparent that the girl’s liberty is in danger.

This session will be facilitated by Manchester-based writer, producer and director Lucia Cox.
