One Hour Intro/ The Exploitation Cinemas of Latin America

Taking its inspiration from the ¡Viva! films Juan de los muertos and La Hora cero, this One Hour Intro will explore the (almost) unbelievable world of Latin American exploitation cinema. From mobsters and gangsters to masked wrestlers and Aztec mummies, to macho gauchos and Latina sex bombs, the cinemas of Latin America have produced a stream of classic exploitation characters that have all been twisted to serve the base cinematic needs of local audiences. As with the best exploitation films, sex, violence, comedy, car chases and of course politics will all be present in this light hearted spin through some of the greatest films you may not have seen.

Led by Andy Willis, Reader in Film Studies at the University of Salford.
