An initiative led by Bianca Danielle and Kelly Morgan, has been creating quite the buzz in Manchester and beyond for the past year, as they takeover well known establishments in Manchester and showcasing best of UK Black businesses – a day filled with unfiltered joy!
Melanin Markets Manchester is a travelling events company that celebrates and promotes Black-owned businesses, vibrantly, within unorthodox spaces, not usually frequented by the Black community. After 2 jam packed, successful events at Contact Theatre and Royal Exchange Theatre, the companies founders Bianca Danielle and Kelly Morgan are excited to bring it to HOME, but this time with a special twist!…
MELANIN MARKETS: THE KING EDITION
For the first time ever, this event will uplift and spotlight Black men in business. There will be over 30 businesses taking over the ground floor of HOME on Sunday 9th October from 12-8 and there will be an exciting variety of East African, Caribbean and fusion food and drink businesses, as well as live art and hair services, alongside African clothing and adult and children accessories on offer.
All free to attend and we encourage ALL communities to come down and support
A few words from Bianca and Kelly, the Directors and Producers of Melanin Markets:
“We are two Manchester based, Black female entrepreneurs who have created a vehicle aiming to address the lack of diverse representation, inclusion and opportunities for people who look like us within the Business sector.”
“We stand in alignment with the Black Pound Day movement, which aims to address the economic inequalities and imbalances affecting Black businesses and entrepreneurs in the UK and global diasporic communities – We welcome and encourage ALL COMMUNITIES to enjoy, celebrate and spend at Melanin Markets.”
WHY THE KING EDITION?
This event will be highlighting Black men in business, creating a safe, authentic atmosphere for Black men to showcase the wonderful range of business, interests and narratives they hold. Too often society and the media push negative narratives and traumatising images of what it is to be a Black man. Often perpetuating harmful stereotypes which go on to hurt the Black community in numerous ways – psychologically, emotionally and economically.
We want to push back against that.
With this event we invite ALL COMMUNITIES to celebrate, promote, and spend with an incredible range of businesses led by Black men. This event is about Black boy joy and the variety of Black masculinity. We’re creating a safe space to portray the variety & dynamism of Black masculinity.

Melanin Markets Manchester encourages ALL communities to celebrate, promote and support Black-led businesses in their everyday purchases, with the aim to normalize #SpendingBlack. Increasing visibility and highlighting the importance of spending Black, in an effort to challenge and change the socio-economic inequalities affecting Black communities.
