Mark Lewis: In Conversation

Canadian-born artist Mark Lewis makes large scale film installations which investigate what he terms ‘the parts’ or ‘bits’ of cinema and the pictorial qualities of the moving image. Earlier works include Peeping Tom (2000), inspired by Micheal Powell’s seminal 1959 thriller of the same name, and Smithfield (2000), exhibited recently in Lewis’ solo exhibitions at Villa Arson, Nice and MOMA, Oxford.Using as its subject the migrant communities of the Heygate Estate, South London, Imitation of Life (2002) is a new commission for Spectator Sport. In conversation with Michael Newman, art historian and writer, Lewis will be discussing his new commission and earlier work, taking questions from the audience.Tickets: £2.50, available from Box Office.
