Thirty years on, Mark Kermode and his Skifflebilly aces recount their hilarious, transformative story of living in the last days of the Hulme crescents and busking the streets of Manchester to touring with Jonathan Richman (who literally plucked them off King St), appearing on daytime TV with Richard and Judy and Timmy Mallett and becoming the house band on a primetime BBC1 chat show armed only with battered instruments, household utensils and a washboard.
Expect wild and acrobatic playing accompanied by extraordinary 80’s/90’s archive footage – complete with police raids, inappropriate celebrity behaviour and unseen photos of Mark’s early success as a fashion model.
