mjf supports homegrown talent, produces newly commissioned work and the annual festival is a firm favourite on Manchester cultural calendar.

 MEET THE ARTISTS

Ed Kainyek Quartet
A local legend on the Manchester jazz scene, Ed Kainyek’s gigs embrace a range of styles from pop and soul to hard swing and Latin.

Floorkin
Performed by Robin Forkin, expect waves of hypnotic sounds merging into a soundscape of textures, improvisation, electronics and instruments. Robin took part in the mjf soundcheck talent development programme in 2021.

Kate Gambhir
Kate is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and pianist combining heart-warming storytelling, melodic writing and pop versatility. She took part in the mjf soundcheck talent development programme in 2021.

Moby Dickless
Manchester based band delivering a post-bop, trip-hop guitar, bass, drums trio creating long-form sets from improvised jams. Lead bassist Mat Woods took part in the mjf soundcheck talent development programme in 2021.

Nishla Smith & Thanda Gumede with friends
Nishla and Thanda are both graduates of the mjf hothouse talent development scheme and will be performing together for the first time. Expect dreamy ballads from Nishla, South African influence from Thanda and everything in between in this exclusive collaboration.

Rory A Green with special guest Clari.
Rory A. Green is a Manchester based jazz guitarist and composer, drawing inspiration from jazz, acoustic folk music and a touch of ambience, joined by vocalist Clari for a few special songs.

Tim Knowles Quartet
A contemporary jazz quartet formed of Tim Knowles (electric guitar), John Pope (acoustic bass), and mjf originals commissioned artists Emma Johnson (tenor sax), and Sarah Heneghan (drums), taking a highly interactive and dynamic approach to Tim’s folk-infused compositions.

Trees.R.Good
Laetitia Alexandratos, aka Trees.R.Good, is a multi-instrumentalist whose work blends jazztronica, electro R&B and Greek/European folk. Laetitia took part in the mjf soundcheck talent development programme in 2021.
