Manchester Folk Festival 2018: Punch needle workshop with Clare Locker

Master the principles of a contemporary textile craft with Manchester maker Clare Locker.

Punch needle is a modern take on the ancient craft of rug hooking. It has remerged and gained enormous popularity in recent years and there’s a whole host of modern and exciting applications for this exciting art.

In this 2 hour workshop, you will learn a how to use a punch needle with a variety of yarn to create your own unique piece of wall art. A range of patterns will be provided or you can choose to punch your own design.

All materials provided, including monks cloth stretched on a wooden frame, punch needle tool, a variety of yarn, patterns.

This event is part of Manchester Folk Festival – an urban folk festival. It takes place over 18-21 October 2018, in an around HOME and the city centre. Over the autumn weekend, they present an exhilarating range of events, with the spotlight on English folk.
