Catch this dynamic live performance from Madz in the Café Bar on HOME’s Ground floor for Horizons Festival 2024.
Madz is a beatboxer from Damascus, Syria, who had to flee the war in his country aged 14 and settled in Manchester UK.
In a world saturated by one dimensional beatboxers, Madz stands out as someone who is truly unique. He is a craftsman, not a commercially desperate performer who tries to hap-harzardly fit into every audience members’ expectations of what beatboxing should be. Madz takes the road less travelled through the love and careful consideration of the beat.
Madz respects his beatboxing elders, and recognises talent in others. Madz also produces his unique digitized vocal tracks which are the backbone of his DJ sets – reached the finals of England Beatboxing Championships 2018, Guinness World Record holder and nominee for Youth Music’s Young Leader Award 2019, and featured in the new National Plan for Music Education.
Madz is passionate and driven. self-taught musician and looking to push his musical abilities and others.
As a music facilitator, he worked with Music Action International to deliver therapeutic, social music workshops to people affected by war, torture and persecution. This includes children, young people and vulnerable adults including refugees, asylum seekers and people with mental health challenges.
