Based on the best-selling manga, the Lone Wolf and Cub series of films is one of the pinnacles of Japanese exploitation cinema. 

The series tells the story of Itto Ogami: the shogun’s executioner, who is disgraced and forced to take to wandering the countryside as an assassin. Along with his infant son Daigoro, Itto helps those he encounters on his travels while seeking vengeance for his murdered wife.
