Lisa Milroy is well know for her paintings of groups of objects, arranged in rows, clusters, layers and grids. Her approach to composition borrows from the language of popular culture, including hardware catalogues, shop displays and cartoons, yet she creates autonomous visual statements. Recent paintings exploring the character of the Geisha, were shown in the John Moores Painting prize, at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool in 2004.
