Master the basics of lino-printing in this workshop with printmaker and professional illustrator Jenna Clark. In this 2.5 hour workshop, Jenna will take you step-by-step through the process of creating and printing an original one-colour linocut card design.
You’ll learn how to design a piece, how to cut safely, how to print on different materials, and how to print more of your pieces at home. All materials will be provided, including one small piece of lino to practice and one bigger piece for your design, plus blank cards. You will come away with your own hand-printed cards, plus you’ll also get the opportunity to swap prints with your fellow classmates. You will also come away with an addictive and adaptable kitchen-table hobby… just in time to make your own Christmas wrapping paper, handmade cards and unique gifts!
Jenna is an illustrator and printmaker based in Cardiff, Wales. She is the artist behind upcoming children’s book When the Stars Fall, a month-long series of animal-inspired ink drawings, and most recently, a Mermaid colouring book successfully funded through Kickstarter. Her work is often inspired by the natural world, with many pieces focusing on flora, fauna and the night sky.
This event is part of Manchester Folk Festival – a celebration of English folk in all its forms, from indie to traditional, familiar names alongside exciting new voices. From 19-22 October in and around HOME, the whole festival takes place in one area of Manchester over one weekend. The Festival presents an incredible music line-up, as well as craft workshops, film, a proper pub singaround, artists in conversation and a relaxed Festival Hub where you can watch the world go by. Friendly, inclusive and full of opportunities for discovery, it will have the spirit of a festival in a field, in the heart of the city.
