Kate Tempest in Conversation

Marking the publication of her electrifying debut novel The Bricks that Built the Houses, award-winning poet, rapper, playwright and novelist Kate Tempest arrives at HOME, where she’ll be reading from the novel, discussing her life and career with writer Dave Haslam and answering questions from the audience. The evening will conclude with a book signing.

Rapidly becoming one of the most exciting and distinctive voices of her generation, Kate’s epic poem Brand New Ancients won the Ted Hughes Prize for poetry in 2013. In 2014 her debut solo album, Everybody Down, was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize 2014.

Moving back in time – and into the heart of London – The Bricks that Built the Houses explores a cross-section of contemporary urban life with a powerful moral microscope, giving us intimate stories of hidden lives, and showing us that good intentions don’t always lead to the right decisions.

The Bricks that Built the Houses will be available for sale during the evening.
