ArtReach through Journeys 2018 have teamed up with Lesbian Immigration Support Group (LISG) to bring you an evening celebrating diversity and the rights of LGBTQ+ asylum seekers and refugees in Manchester, through live music from young Eritrean singer Neda Naser, great art, craft activities and a quiz.
Imagine fleeing persecution in your home country only to arrive in the UK and have to face challenges to your identity in the form of interrogations from Home Office officials. This is the reality for LGBTQ+ asylum seekers when they arrive in the UK.
Join us to celebrate the inclusion of LGBTQ+ asylum seekers and refugees from all backgrounds in Manchester’s society, but also raise awareness of issues facing them through the process.
Take part in our quiz to help find out what you know and learn something new! Take a stand and ‘Protest for Diversity’ with Gil Doron’s placard making workshop and photoshoot, all to the sound track of some fantastic live music, with plenty of resources available for you to find out more about these issues.
This project is supported by a grant from Superbia. Superbia Grants provide financial support for LGBT events as part of Manchester Pride’s commitment to the quality and diversity of cultural events taking place throughout the year in Greater Manchester.
