Irreversible: The Censorship Debate

The controversy around IRREVERSIBLE began when 250 people walked out of a screening at Cannes 2002 film festival. The BBFC passed the film uncut at an 18 certificate, claiming that the shocking and unpleasant scenes “are not by themselves reasons for censoring them for adults” (BBFC website). BBFC representatives Paul Navarro and Murray Perkins will introduce the screening and afterwards the audience will be invited to discuss the film and general BBFC policies with them.
