‘In this tidal place’ is a poetic exploration of grief through the lens of a coastal wetland in North Norfolk. In this site-specific film, artist Jessica Loveday walks across the salt marsh with textile sculptures depicting fragments of letters and words; the indecipherable shapes reference a pendant passed down through four generations of women. The visuals are accompanied by contemplative thoughts, and field recordings, that weave memories and mourning into the landscape.
This event marks the sharing of Jessica Loveday’s first film, this commission was focused on exploring the medium of film. We are delighted for the first sharing to take place in the HOME Arches, a pioneering artist development hub to offer transformational support to artists in the North West.
