How to make a film on your phone

Sometimes making a short film can seem like an overwhelming task; maybe you don’t feel like you’ve got the right equipment, budget or resources.

Join filmmaker Josh Wilkinson for this interactive session and learn how to make a film using only your phone.

Josh will show you all his tips and tricks for making a short film using the device already in your pocket! You’ll meet other filmmakers at the session and if you enjoy yourself, you can go away and make a film to submit to our DIY Film Challenge with the possibility of winning a £1000 bursary. Or you can just take what you’ve learnt and carry on practice filmmaking at home. Either way, we hope this session will make shooting a short film and creating your own content seem all the more possible!

Please note, there are limited spaces on the workshop and it will be first come first serve. If you do not have a phone or a suitable phone, please let us know beforehand and we will be able to provide a device. This workshop is free and travel bursaries are available if required.

This activity is part of the UK-wide BFI Film Academy programme and is supported using funds from the National Lottery #NationalLottery @bfifilmacademy. BFI Film Academy North is led in partnership by HOME, Manchester and Showroom Cinema, Sheffield working with a wide-ranging group of exhibitors and filmmakers throughout the region.
