Under a baobab tree, an old man tells a story to the children around him – about the everlasting friendship between 10-year-old Maki, and Zarafa, an orphaned giraffe, who is being gifted to the King of France by the Pasha of Egypt. Desperate to fulfil his promise to Zafara’s late mother, Maki is determined to stop Zafara being taken away, even if it means risking his own life.
