First Street Festival HOME Opening Weekend Saturday

Day three of the First Street Festival launch weekend, curated by HOME, brings you a day of family fun and great music all throughout the day!

Jenny Roche
Jenny Roche Dance Artist as well as a Yoga Teacher and loves to combine authentic flow state in both dance and yoga. She is also an Integrative Body Movement Therapist in training, with Linda Hartley and weaves in the principles of thing into her teachings.
Like many of us, Jenny found yoga when she needed it the most. Having practiced on and off for many years and always relishing the space that yoga provides as a busy working Mum, it wasn’t until she stumbled upon the teaching of Tantra, that she really found her own practice and a deeper sense of self in our interrelation beingness.

Cheddar Gorgeous

Join the family Gorgeous for a lunchtime session of fun-filled fabulousness outdoor at First Street as they read some of their favorite children’s stories. A treat for all ages.

Lakshmi
Lakshmi is a Manchester based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a background in classical music. Along with her band and string trio, Lakshmi released her debut EP on 1st May 2020, which combines soulful folk/pop with haunting lyrics and string arrangements. Lakshmi has performed as a soloist at the Birmingham LG Arena and with the RNCM Session Orchestra, and was recently named BBC Introducing Artist of the Week for Hereford and Worcester.
Also trained as a classical violinist, Lakshmi has performed and recorded extensively as a session violinist and backing vocalist for artists including Ed Sheeran and Tyler the Creator, Ollie West and the Wildflowers, The Brand New Heavies, and Garage Classical. Lakshmi draws influence from artists such as Lianne La Havas, Jorja Smith and Elbow.

Steve Varden
The Steve Varden Experience is a live performance DJ musical cocktail mixer of iPads, Kaossilators, synth’s and oddball midi-controllers that will defy you to sit still and snooze on a sunny afternoon! Expect hypnotic and pumping dance beats, rhythmic loops and unworldly familiar random sounds from the depths of the after dark synthesiser.

Yemi Bolatiwa
Yemi Bolatiwa is a multi-faceted vocal artist. Heard on BBC Radio 1 and Kiss FM in and with performances and features on BBC Introducing Manchester, BBC Radio Manchester and BBC 1Xtra under her belt, Yemi’s live act comes in versatile forms from an electronic Ableton live & synth lead trio-quartet featuring Viola & Sax, up to the full 6 piece ensemble with soulful grooves and dynamic energy and homage to Soul, Hiphop Garage and DnB.

Mix-Stress
Rebecca Swarray is the founder and curator of Manchester based events and arts collective, RebeccaNeverBecky and Co-founder of queer DJ Collective, Queer Latifah.
She also is known as DJ Mix-Stress who is a firm favourite on the Manchester music scene and beyond with her soulful and uplifting sets. With monthly residences at Manchester venues such Ducie Street Warehouse and Feel Good Club w she platforms new and upcoming DJs. She also recently joined the GMCA Night Time Economy & Culture Team as a Senior Policy Officer and is presenter and host of StreamGM which is set to launch a brand new streaming platform very soon which will showcase Manchester creatives, arts, DJs and local promoters. She is an avid lover of Manchester and it’s melting pot of talent.

NikNak
A woman with a highly impressive array of talents and skills, and a dynamic music creative with experimental albums, NikNak regularly redefines and expands upon her role as a ground-breaking multidisciplinary artist. Listed as one of DJ-Mag’s “Ones To Watch in 2022”, NikNak continues to build upon her vast DJ-ing experience having blown audiences away with her eclectic DJ sets at festivals like Wilderness, We Out Here, Leeds International Festival, Bestival and more, as well as running the “Dub Sirens” and “Melanin” events in Leeds. NikNak also is dedicated to expanding her unique Turntablism practice within immersive surround-sound compositions and improvised performances, working tirelessly to develop her sounds to show audiences just how robust and experimental her music can be with her outspoken, passionate, bubbly and comic book-nerd personality
