Using the current exhibitions as a starting point, this course will look at contemporary approaches to painting, providing opportunity to discuss our changing perceptions of painting and its status within contemporary art practice. Led by cultural historian Deborah Riding and artist Brendan Fletcher, the course will put contemporary painting in the context of art history and cultural theory, while encouraging open debate and the sharing of ideas.
