This course is now SOLD OUT
This accessible cinema studies course explores the elements that make up a film and aims to enhance your enjoyment and develop your critical awareness. Films from around the world, from now and exciting moments in cinema history, are used to unpick the components of film. Through a close analysis of clips, screenings and discussions, we will explore how narratives are shaped; how cameras capture characters and environments, movement and time; how cutting and editing make meaning; and how colour and sound create emotion. The aim of the course is for you to discover new ways to enjoy, think and talk about cinema.
Beginners’ level, no prior knowledge required.
Led by David Deamer, Associate Lecturer in Film, Manchester Metropolitan University.
