Dogme Days

Has Dogme had its ‘day’? In 1995, Lars Von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg drew up their ‘Vow of Chastity’, ten rules of filmmaking to ‘force the truth out of the characters and settings’. Jason Scott will discuss the manifesto and films of the movement, from the first films FESTEN and THE IDIOTS to examples outside of Denmark. The session will then lead into a debate on the future of the low-budget, no-frills principles of Dogme 95. Jason Scott lectures in the Film Studies department of Sheffield University.Tickets: £3.50 full / £3.00 concs includes £1.00 off any screening of OPEN HEARTS.
