Directors UK presents: So you want to be a director?

Learn more about the role and work of a director from two experienced professionals, in this informative session presented by Directors UK.

The default aspiration for many an aspiring filmmaker is ‘I want to be a director’. But what does it really entail?

Outlining what a director’s work, role and involvement is at each stage of production, the areas in which collaboration is crucial and how to make working as a team work, this talk will give you plenty of practical tips, examples and advice to help you understand directing and decide on your future career.

Speakers include:

  • Freelance director Nigel Keen (BBC, ITV, Talkback Thames, Lime Picture, Mersey Television and more) and winner of The Most Spectacular Scene of the Year Award at the British Soap Awards.
  • Writer and director Andrew Gunn (Green Wing, Life On Mars, Doctor Who, Cape Wrath) and winner of several awards for his short films at home and at international film festivals, including two Royal Television Society awards.

Directors UK is a member’s organisation for British directors presided by Paul Greengrass (Bourne Ultimatum, United 93), and represents almost 4,000 working directors in all screen mediums.
