Course: Stage Directions 2017

Do you want to have an impact on the world and let your voice be heard? Have you ever wondered what goes on inside a rehearsal room? Would you like to find out more about the role of a theatre director?

This Autumn, in partnership with Black Gold Arts, we’re running an intensive course in theatre directing led by established director Cheryl Martin (Associate Director at Contact, Resident Director at The Traverse, Edinburgh: MEN Theatre Award and Edinburgh Fringe First) alongside invited established directors and theatre makers.

The course will:

  • Develop an understanding of planning and running a rehearsal.
  • Equip participants with a range of practical skills for working with actors and approaching texts.
  • Offer an insight into different practices through masterclasses with industry professionals.
  • Provide an opportunity to direct a short scene with professional actors.

Come join us. Have a go. Be heard. No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm.

Places are limited and we will be holding informal interviews on Tues 4 and Thurs 6 September. Please note this opportunity is for those who have limited experience of theatre directing and all applicants must be 18+.

Want to apply and find out more?

Email Jennie.McCusker@homemcr.org your contact details and either a short paragraph or a video stating us why you would like to take part and tell us about a play you would like to direct and why by Fri 18 August 2017.
