Cornerhouse Projects

Cornerhouse Projects is an opportunity for artists from the NW region, aspiring curators and those wishing to showcase affordable art to showcase their work and test new ideas. Occupying the building’s Cafe and Bar spaces, it is a highly visible platform for artists’ work, as well as an opportunity to make sales.

As one of our core programmes, Cornerhouse Projects has a unique relationship with the international art and film events taking place in the rest of the building. It takes full advantage of Cornerhouse’s location in the city, being a focal point for a diverse range of people with an active interest in film, contemporary art and culture.

Previous exhibitions have been single and group exhibitions in a range of 2D media, usually lasting between one and two months.

Look out for Cornerhouse Projects in the Ground Floor Bar & Café.

We are seeking submissions from artists, curators, designers, collectives and other creative individuals and groups, who wish to present new or existing work. We are especially interested in ideas that showcase at least one or more of the following categories:

North West artists: whether emerging or established, tutored or self-taught, we welcome applications from any age or artistic discipline, with a focus upon contemporary visual art.

Emerging curators: we now also welcome proposals from new curators and producers wishing to present a group or solo exhibition of artwork that may originate from beyond the North West and beyond.

Affordable art: we’re also keen to work with artists and curators based in the North West or nationally, to develop exhibitions of affordable art where single items do not exceed £150.

Submissions to Cornerhouse Projects should respond to at least one of the above categories, or a combination thereof. Multiple submissions are accepted.

Due to the nature of the exhibition space, all artwork must be 2-D and wall-mountable, and should be ready to hang with all necessary fixtures and fittings provided.
