Class in Diversity in British Television

British television has been accused of no longer being representative of the diversity of the UK and of failing to tell ordinary stories through alternative voices. Class in Diversity asks whether TV executives and commissioners are failing to acknowledge the impact of class representation and specifically how stories created by working classes can be more inclusive by nature, rather than as a result of ‘box ticking’ culture.

This discussion features Lisa Gifford (Writer, Eastenders) and Deborah Williams (Executive Director, Creative Diversity Network), the driving force behind Project Diamond – an industry-wide initiative monitoring the range of diversity within British broadcasters.
