Cinema Course: New Wave Auteurs: Where Are They Now?

The New Wave is probably the most scrutinised period in contemporary French cinema. But what has happened to New Wave directors at the start of the 21st century? François Truffaut died in 1984, but Claude Chabrol, Jean-Luc Godard, Eric Rohmer, Alain Resnais, Jacques Rivette and Agnès Varda still make films regularly. Their revival in recent years in terms of themes and style has attracted attention from the critics and in some cases the public. This eight week course will look at the French directors of the New Wave and their recent contributions to French cinema.Screenings include: ON CONNAIT LA CHANSON and LA Cérémonie.Led by Dr. Isabelle Vandershelden, Senior Lecturer in French, Manchester Metropolitan UniversityTickets: £32 full / £24 concs
