Between Photography and Film: Art, Stillness and Movement

This course will investigate the complex relationship between the uses of photography and film, exploring the historical and contemporary interaction between the two mediums through the work of artists such as Man Ray, Moholy-Nagy, August Sander, Chris Marker, Cindy Sherman and Fiona Tan. It will look into the ways in which the functions of these mediums influence one another, examining ideas of art, documentary, identity and memory.
