This interactive masterclass will go behind the scenes at the BBFC, the British Board of Film Classification. The session will cover a general introduction to the history of censorship and classification in the UK, and include details on modern BBFC Guidelines, societal concerns and the current legislative framework that governs film and DVD classification, all illustrated with relevant film clips. Students will then watch a film that posed classification issues at a particular category, and discuss in detail the elements that determined the final certificate.

Led by Heidi Renton, Deputy Education Officer at the BBFC.
