A Beginners Guide to Sound Design for Film

A carefully crafted soundscape can elevate your film to the next level but what aspects do you need to consider when you start thinking about your film’s sound design?

Join composer Andrew Heath and artist Lowri Evans for a conversational talk that explores how to create music and sound design within films, using their recent collaboration on the online soap Telenovela.

Together you’ll think about how sound and music impact moving image and how visual images can inspire sound.

Lowri and Andrew will talk about the use of sound design within the context of Telenovela, including what technology you need to get started (and how it all works), different approaches to creating a score and a brief look at audio restoration.  They will also cover the all-important relationship between artist and musician and the practical aspects of remote collaboration.

During this informal discussion, Lowri and Andrew will use plenty of using practical examples taken from their collaboration on Telenovela to illustrate their points and will have plenty of time to answer your questions and hear your thoughts and experiences on this topic.

Aimed at complete beginners who are just starting or who are about to start on projects as well as musicians who would like to work with film but don’t know where to start.
