BFI Film Academy is a flagship film project at HOME for 16 – 19 year olds who are passionate about film. HOME is the North West lead partner for the Film Academy, overseeing five Film Academies in partnership with the British Film Institute. The North West Film Academies will run in partnership with FACT in Liverpool, Aunty Social in Blackpool, Touchstones in Rochdale and Signal Film & Media in Cumbria.
Each academy will have the opportunity to work with industry professionals, attend practical and online workshops, meet new people and gain an insight into areas of the industry you might not even know existed. Each cohort will get the chance to make a short film which will be screened at HOME cinema in February 2025. Find out more information about the North West film academies here.
HOME’s Film Academy will run from Oct 24 – Feb 25 for 20 young people. Participants will work with a range of film industry professionals learning everything about film from commissioning, production, post production, distribution and more.
Alongside this, they will attend film theory sessions, industry advice sessions and complete your Silver Arts Award.
Applications for the Film Academy open every August and close in September and it is completely free to attend, with travel reimbursed and bursaries available for additional expenses. If you want more information, please contact filmyoungcreatives@homemcr.org
