We just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who came to ¡Viva! this year – to see the films or the exhibition, have an Estrella or a glass of sangria, to ask questions in English, Spanish or Catalan. It’s been a fantastic edition with lively guest discussions, stimulating study sessions, insightful intros, and 19 features from nine countries – 8 of which were UK premieres!
The Spanish comedies Primos and El Gran Vazquez were the biggest hits of the closing weekend, and it was great to see so many of you at the ¡Fiesta Clausura! on Saturday night at the Instituto Cervantes. If you didn’t make it down there, don’t forget Oscar Fernández Orengo’s wonderful exhibition of photographic portraits of Spanish filmmakers continues there until the end of April. And if you haven’t ventured upstairs to Gallery 1 at Cornerhouse yet, remember you’ve only got until Sunday to check out Landings by the celebrated Mexican artist Minerva Cuevas.
And if you want a quick flavour of what folks had to say during the festival take a look at this Storify we’ve produced. You’ll find reviews, tweets, photos and recommendations…
Until next time! ¡Hasta la próxima!
