Following the Government’s announcement over the weekend, it is with heavy hearts that we will be closing for a second time from Thursday. But we will not let this stop us from doing what we do best.
The closure is a huge disappointment to all at HOME following our successful reopening in September, since when we have seen sold-out theatre shows and cinema screenings, and the successful reopening of our gallery. However, we are committed to following Government guidelines and ensuring the safety of our staff, visitors and artists.
However, while we are closed we will continue to present work online, including moving our live theatre shows for November to livestream, working with film distributors to curate a selection of films for you to enjoy at home and using multimedia to bring our three new exhibitions to you digitally.
All ticketholders will be contacted by either phone or email to arrange a refund. However with the future of the arts now as uncertain as ever, and the message of our Empty Seats campaign – that each seat held off sale is worth a potential £130 per week in lost sales to us – is more resonant than ever. So, we are asking you to consider exchanging your ticket for a credit note, or even donating the cost if you are able.
The support we have received from our audiences and friends since March has been absolutely invaluable, and we are incredibly grateful. Through this support we managed to continue to provide work for freelance artists via our critically-acclaimed Homemakers series, which has been enjoyed by audiences from all over the world. Our Engagement team have continued to deliver sessions digitally and have worked with over 600 participants since March, and our Talent Development team have provided regular online surgeries and workshops. We couldn’t have done any of this without you.
As soon as we have a confirmed date when we can reopen we will share this on our social media platforms, website and via email with our subscribers – you can sign up here to ensure you’re among the first to find out. In the meantime, please keep an eye on our social channels where we will be sharing daily digital cultural experiences for you to enjoy.
