HOME & Weightmans: Working Together

To celebrate his 80th birthday, Sir Ian McKellen is touring the country, performing a brand-new one-man show to raise funds for many regional theatres, including HOME.

HOME is a registered charity and we need to raise over £650,000 per year just to keep our doors open and keep bringing amazing new art, ideas and experiences to everyone in Manchester.

These events at HOME wouldn’t be possible without the sponsorship of Weightmans, a top 45 UK law firm with an office based right here in the heart of Manchester. HOME and Weightmans have a great partnership that dates back to before the venue was even built! When the development of HOME was proposed back in 2012, a Weightmans team led by Partners Karl Jackson (who was a valued Cornerhouse Trustee) and Paul Raftery supported us extensively with contractual and property arrangements. They helped to make sure the development went to plan and worked closely with Dave Moutrey, our Director and CEO all the way through the process. Once HOME opened in 2015, we remained both a client and a beneficiary of Weightmans’ Corporate Social Responsibility programme. Weightmans is now a Founding Supporter of HOME with Karl Jackson continuing his work with us a HOME Trustee. The firm’s support contributes to the ongoing development and growth of HOME and provides thousands of pounds in pro bono legal assistance each year.

Richard Corran, Partner and Head of Weightmans’ Manchester office said: “We are delighted to support HOME and the Ian McKellan tour. Weightmans is a firm with great northern heritage and we work hard to contribute to the social and economic success of our people and the city. Arts and culture mobilises, motivates and inspires communities and it is imperative we support these institutions so they continue to thrive, providing joy, wonder and incredible new experiences.”
