HOME launches Theatre Podcast

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the HOME Theatre Podcast,  a podcast dedicated to showcasing the plethora of artists that take to our stages. Each episode we’ll be talking to the cast and creatives of some of the theatre productions we have on show in both our theatre 1 and 2 spaces. Hosted by various members of our theatre programming team, we’ll be taking a deep dive into their work, their careers, their trials, tribulations and most importantly, their advice.

We are committed to supporting and showcasing work with a unique theatrical language – work that is ambitious, experimental and asks more questions than it answers. We want to showcase the amazing work that is both born and supported here, as well as those who are on a whistle stop tour of our stages.

For our premiere episode, we’re kicking off proceedings with an interview from some of the cast and creative team behind our first ever HOME produced musical Insane Animals! We spoke to George Heyworth & Liv Morris (of Bourgeois and Maurice), as well as director Philip McMahon and actor Lockie Chapman. We talk about first ever gigs, how Insane Animals differs from ‘traditional’ musicals and what audiences can expect from the show.

“HOME is a place for artists and theatremakers who want to delve into the unknown; to surprise audiences – and themselves – with new stories, and new ways of telling them. The Theatre Podcast will be a space for those artists to dissect what they’re doing, share their practice, and talk about the people and experiences that have shaped their work. We hope there’ll be lots to enlighten and entertain, for emerging artists and curious audience members alike.”

Jude Christian, HOME Associate Director

The launch of the theatre podcast follows our previous success with the dedicated HOME Film Podcast which has been listened to over 41,000 times. Now, we want to focus in on some of the boundary-pushing theatre companies we have working within our walls, whether they are visiting or are produced in-house, we want to delve deeper into the artists that make up our diverse, exciting and eclectic theatre programme.

Each week, listeners can expect to hear from a different company taking to our stages – about their show, journey and artistic advice. There will be something for everyone – from our audience members to working artists to people who have never stepped foot in HOME.

You can catch the first episode from tomorrow, Wed 26 Feb 2020. We will be releasing the podcast bi-monthly to begin with, with the aim of steadily increasing episodes throughout the year. It will be available through all the usual podcast platforms (Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Play etc.) as well as on its own dedicated website here.
