Film Hub North West Central – Open For Membership

We are delighted to be one of the Hub Lead Organisations for the groundbreaking new deal for UK audiences, the BFI Film Audience Network (BFI FAN). We will be working with the BFI and regional partners to bring more specialised and independent British film to UK audiences in new and exciting ways.

As outlined in Film Forever, the BFI’s plan for 2012-2017, the FAN ambition is to encourage people to build a lifelong relationship with film, to help build audiences for a broader range of films across all platforms and ensure that film culture can be accessed and enjoyed by everyone across the UK.

The Film Hubs will work collaboratively with partner organisations in their local areas and, together with the BFI, will form a new Film Audience Network strategic leadership group to ensure a joined-up UK-wide approach. The Hub Lead Organisations across the UK will collectively receive BFI lottery funding of up to £7.5m over four years (2013-17) to bring new film experiences to UK audiences, no matter where they live.

Cornerhouse will lead the Film Hub North West Central covering Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire.

The BFI FAN funding will be used to support a range of audience development activities at a local, regional and cross-regional level, and the network will support major national celebrations of cinema across each of the Film Hub regions, with the ambition to stage some simultaneously. Film Hub activity will be tailored to local audiences and geography, and will include support for touring and archive programmes; pop-ups and live events; projects aimed at engaging the next generation of film fans and sector led skills training in areas such as programming, marketing, fundraising and technical delivery.

We are now inviting organisations based in the North West Central region to become Hub Members. Hub membership is free and provides access to funding, training and sector development initiatives and allows organisations the opportunity to share knowledge across the Hub. Membership is open to constituted organisations which share the ambitions of the Hub to extend film choice, increase and broaden film audiences, and enhance opportunities for audiences to engage with and learn about film.

To become a member you will need to complete an Expression of Interest Form, once an initial eligibility check has been done we will be in touch for you to sign up to the Hub’s Terms and Conditions.
