Yes it’s that time of the year again – with only a month to go we turn our attention to ¡Viva! 2013!
The opening night is set to go off with a bang with the stylish Spanish-Argentine heist caper ¡Atraco! following the opening of our Mexican art exhibition Octopus. Artist Yoshua Okón will be here to present his work in person, so come down for a personal insight into his unique representation of the Guatemalan Civil War. Yoshua will be back the following day for the Artist’s Talk, a cinema-based discussion featuring excerpts from his video work and images of his installations. Plus all you Spanish-speakers might also find him joining in the fun at our Café Cervantes event on Sunday afternoon – he’s going to be a busy man!
Amongst our 23 films from 8 countries we’ve racked up 10 UK premieres this year. And throughout the festival we’ve got a huge range of films and events on offer, from moving tales of political repression in La Voz dormida and Infancia clandestina, to outrageous comedy in Lobos de Arga and Del lado del verano. We’re delighted to announce our first confirmed festival guests with satirical heist comedy El Mundo es nuestro.
And good news if you’re a Cornerhouse member, tickets are exclusively available for you to book from today, before going on sale to the general public on Fri 15 February. Something to bear in mind though – any priority booking period tickets will need to be purchased by phone or in person at our Box Office.
And for that ultimate ¡Viva! experience we are pleased to announce the return of our festival pass on sale at 2012 prices, £50 full/ £36 concs, or if you’re a member you can take advantage of special members’ prices of £42 full/ £28 concs.
So hope that whets your appetite. More news to follow on visiting filmmakers, so watch this space! And don’t forget to check out the ¡Viva! homepage with the full programme here.
