Careers week was an eye opener!

Last week 15 young people from across Greater Manchester bravely sacrificed their half term holiday to take part in the Library Theatre Company’s Theatre Careers Week. The students participated in a wide range of workshops from casting and directing to stage management and marketing, designed to give them an insight into what life is really like working for a professional theatre company.

Each workshop was lead by a professional theatre maker who shared their experiences of working in the industry, offering practical activities enabling the students to find out for themselves the skills and responsibilities of each career. The group agreed that the week had opened their eyes to all the possible ways of being involved in theatre other than acting as they discovered new found interests in areas of work that they hadn’t previously considered. The group not only took away new skills but made great new friends, after all making friends in this business is very important!

That just leaves me to say a big thank you to everyone that helped to make the week such a success. I wish all the best of luck to the students that are taking their GCSEs and look forward to welcoming some of you into our youth theatre this summer.
