A young man awakens in an otherworldly wilderness. His only companions are the animals who call this strange island home.
Guided by an old map and a series of stone arches, the young man sets off across the landscape in the hope of finding the island’s last remnants of civilisation. All along the way, he is pursued by a giant figure that is dark, mysterious and menacing.
Meditative and dreamlike – told through beautiful animation and without dialogue – Away is a moving story of resilience and the quest for connection. It returns to HOME in anticipation of the release of Flow: the latest labour of love from visionary filmmaker Gints Zilbalodis.
Plus/ All screenings of Away will be preceded by The Lab, a 3 minute short film by Izzy Livesey about an eccentric scientist working on her next experiment.
