Jubilee Bank Holiday opening times

Fancy catching some films and art this Bank Holiday weekend? We’ve got some great new releases lined up. Plus, this Tuesday’s your last chance to see our current exhibition Subversion.

Ken Loach’s Cannes hit The Angels’ Share opens in our cinemas on Fri 1 June. This Glasgow-set comedy crime caper follows new dad Robbie and his mates, as they set about planning a money making scam inspired by a visit to a local whiskey distillery.

If you’re looking for a family friendly film, the French/Belgian film On the Sly is a great choice and a truly rewarding watch for audiences of all ages. Dubbed in English for the benefit of younger viewers, the film follows six year old Cathy who, believing that she is invisible, runs away to the woods to embark upon an adventure involving friendly fish, wild beasts, advanced survival skills and magic seeds.

Our galleries are open from 12:00 – 20:00 on Mon 4 and Tue 5 June.  Perfect timing to catch our current exhibition Subversion before it ends its run. The show features eleven emerging and established artists who subvert common misrepresentations of modern Arab identity. Highlights include Wafaa Bilal’s video game piece Virtual Jihadi (2008) which is housed in a replica internet café, Tarzan and Arab’s short film Colourful Journey and Larissa Sansour’s A Space Exodus, which re-imagines Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.

If you’re in the Café and Bar over the weekend, look out for the limited edition prints in our current Cornerhouse Project HOME. Each has been created with the theme of home in mind. You can snap one up for your own abode from the bargain price of £35.
