Harold Brighouse’s Hobson’s Choice, the tale of a hapless 19th century boot-maker who is rather too fond of his local pub and trying to cope with a trio of willful daughters, has been adapted for the screen several times. Join us for this one-off screening of its most well-known incarnation, directed by David Lean and starring Charles Laughton and John Mills. A beautifully constructed romantic comedy, with characters painted with such affection – and performed so well – Hobson’s Choice remains a real pleasure to watch.
Why not accompany the screening with our Annie Horniman: Theatre Pioneer guided walk?
