Curators Omar Kholeif and Sarah Perks are joined by artist Joana Hadjitomas and Khalil Joreige, who for the foundation for this exhibition have spent nearly fifteen years collecting, archiving and analysing spam emails; especially those based around a swindle. They will be asking why scam emails still prove effective – according to international reports several hundred million dollars are transferred each year – and what these emails say about the state of the world; often referring to true life conflicts, borrowing the identities of real people, and based on links and events that truly exist and from which their frauds are constructed.
