We are partnering with the wonderful Watershed to bring to life Recife: The Playable City, an exciting new international initiative to bring artists, creative producers and technologists together from Brazil’s Pernambuco region and the UK.
If you are an artists seeking time and space to collaboratively research playful ideas at the intersection of art, technology, society and culture, develop experimental works and make new connections, then this initiative might just be for you.
During the three-week programme, practitioners will work together in small teams, to develop playful interventions that rethink public space. Participants will spend two weeks developing ideas at the Pervasive Media Studio in Bristol, and one week developing work at Porto Digital in Recife. Through a shared process of making and testing, practitioners will explore ideas and develop works that responds to the challenges our future cities may face.
Who is it for?
Artists with an open, rigorous and experimental approach, who are willing to produce work that is exposed, tested and investigated as it is developed. Artists can be either established or emerging. Of particular interest are artists interested in collaborating with technologists and developing their practice. The Watershed team are particularly keen to support artists whose practice will significantly develop through this programme. There are four places places available for UK-based artists.
